Did you know that more than 4,000 Red Cross volunteers have deployed for Sandy from every state in the US? Here’s a quick look at the many ways the Red Cross is helping NJ recover from Sandy:
At this time, our 71 shelters are assisting 5,585 residents in the region.
As usual, volunteers are the stars of our operation. Today, South Jersey trained more than 300 new volunteers and at this time, 1,000 volunteers in NJ are manning 120 Emergency Response Vehicles that are feeding people at our mobile and fixed locations. We’re tweeting mobile feeding locations spanning across North NJ almost every hour.
Over 1,000 volunteers are deployed across the region. Teams from Canada and Mexico are providing specific expertise.
You can help us tremendously by donating money to our relief effort. Today I found out that Verizon is matching text donations to us up to a million dollars! All you have to do is text “RedCross” to 90999 to give us $10. You can also help us by following us on Twitter and retweeting our info to your friends. Catch us on Facebook too.
I’ve been meeting quite a few people in our shelters and their gratitude is heartening to see. We want people to know they’re not alone in this, we’re here to help. Reach out to us!
